I presume it’s as straightforward as ordinary gear cable , undo that tiny cable clamp pull out old cable fit new one ? No hidden surprises ? Oh and wide the adjuster on the remote all the way back in ?

Yep, exactly that, just close up the lever adjuster barrel and put a little tension on the post lever before you tighten the cable clamp. I’ve also put a small spring between the static and moving lever on the post to try and counteract grime gumming up the works.

Edit, the clamp end will come out before you undo it, just ease the lever down and wiggle it out, there’s no tension then threatening to send the clamp in to orbit when you undo the grub screw

Cheers ulysse straightforward was a bit wary as that cable clamp is tiny ! I’ve made a sort of crud guard with old inner tube zip tied to saddle rails which keeps the mechanism reasonably dirt free , I’ve hung on changing the cable for far too long !
