So after a year of fannying around I decided a Surly Krampus was the bike for me, and I went to order one, and lo and behold I was too slow and they are all sold out in my size.

What other bikes of this ilk are available bar the Stache?

Stooge will have a full 29+er soon I believe. I also think Charlie the bike monger got an alternative in recently a vassago maybe.

Singular Puffin Mk2 is good for 29+ http://coastkid.blogspot.co.uk/

If you’re tempted by fat as well, it could be a great choice.

Wow! The Shand is something else! Could I really live with a plastic bike I wonder…. Looks good though, but can you believe that bit of exposed cable between the downtube and chainstay? Looks dreadful and is bound to get stood on surely? Maybe the designer had to get home for his tea that night.

Is the Jabberwocky not single speed only?

Edit> Just found out it comes with derailleur mount.

I’d be looking at a Jones Plus, nothing out there remotely similar.

I have a medium ECR frame + fork for sale if anyone’s interested too (:

cooie – it’s an XL I’m after but thanks anyway, I’m almost 6’3.

Why are you selling it if I may be so nosey?

    Odd stuff happening at Surly.

Selling stock off cheap, huuuge delays on existing models, some not listed by the importer anymore.
The existing roadie/cross stuff still has future delivery dates, but most of the other stuff doesn’t.

I see going to be doing 650b plus tyres, which would suggest some new bikes?

Why XL? I’m 6’2″ and it’s spot on! I’m selling because I’ve just got a Ragley Bigwig frame off here that takes a 31.6 dropper, which I already have, and 27.5 plus tyres 😀 It was cheaper than buying a 27.2 dropper for the Krampus 😕

I’ve tried a Stache and a Niner recently. I really liked the Niner.

6’2,5″ and happy with Krampuss in large.

    Works well with dirt-drops too:

    Slightly OT but …..

I’m 6’3”ish (maybe a bit under) with a longer reach that leg.

I went with a L Rooster over the XL to maximise standover with the enormous wheels.

TT length is a little bit of a compromise but I’m grateful for the stand over.

I considered a Krampus and would have gone L over XL.

Appreciate its all down to personal preference but thought I would give you my 2cents!

@Johnclimber – That Travers, Lauf, Rohloff combo looks amazing 8)

    Ah, interesting.

Rereading my emails, I was told about the supply chain issues whilst inquiring after my frame.

Eric and Patrick at Surly and Andy at Ison were patient, pleasant and honest to deal with.

If they can get through this and ensure a decent supply of frames in the UK I’d probably get another one.

The frame is a really well made and thought out, probably the nicest mass produced Far Eastern frame I’ve had.

Scratches easily, but it’s a tourer, it’s going to look scruffy soon enough.
Goes quite well on singletrack too
    🙂
