For sale, my first venture into the dark side of 29ers - one single speed Kona unit 29er. It was built up with the sole purpose of experimenting with these big wheeled beasts. Now that I’ve dabbled and found out how good they are I’m selling this to fund a 29er race bike.
Here’s the spec:
Kona Unit 29 frame - medium size 18inch
Whyte Brothers Rock Solid Carbon Forks
Cane Creek headset
Cannondale Rims (very similar to mavic 317) on Shimano deore hubs – Built by Merlin
Kenda Nevgal tyres – running ghetto tubeless
Richey seat post
Specialized BG saddle
On one Fleegal Pro bars
Titec stem
Kona Jack Shit grips
Hayes 9 brakes
Shimano deore octalink chainset with 32 tooth ring
18T rear cog & single speed spacers
Shimano 540 SPDs
KMC single speed chain
Good points, pretty light 29er (around 24lb if I remember right) that rides well even though its rigid. Tyres have less than 50 miles on them mostly in mud and work fine tubeless. Chain has the same amount of mileage as tyres.
Bad points, couple of chips on the frames paint work (see photos), the front brake isn’t quite as keen as the rear so may need a bleed soon. One side of the left pedal doesn’t clip in as tightly as the other even with the spring tension wound up.
After £300 for the bike, collected from Derby or posted at cost.
