Looks like an OK bike for touring, anyone used one? Not sure about those bar end shifters; why are they used and are they OK? Also thinking about a Kaffenback if I can get it through the ride2work scheme.

Someone off here has one for touring. Was an earlier model and has STIs rather than bar end shifters.
Someone else was trying to shift one in the classifieds, rigged up as some sort of bastardised SS 🙄
[stuck record]A genesis criox de fer is worth a look as an alternative[/stuck record] as is the Kona Dew Drop.

I have an older Sutra with STIs. Great bike, I’ve toured, “raced” and commuted with it – even had it offroad a few times with some knobblier tyres. A bit heavy mind, but if it’s for touring then robust is good.
