Due to OCD I have always used the same tyres front and back. Due to a rush on this morning I put Bonty Mud-X on front and left bald Maxxis Ikon on the rear. The forest was a mudfest, new bike was lagged and so was I but I was amazed by how well the Ikons performed at the rear. I am now a convert to mix and matching. Odd how it takes an accident to change a 20 year year old habit.

I tend to ride a big grippy front tyre and a panaracer xc 1.8 at the rear, seems to work well

Up until yesterday I was running a Maxxis Aspen on the back, if it didn’t grip it was generally my fault. Didn’t clog either.

Same tyre front and rear doesn’t work that often imo. Pure xc muds can though- I don’t mind a baldy tyre on the back when descending in mud but it’s kinda annoying when you can’t go up!
