He is getting faster on his pedal bike and having bigger offs. Any suggestions for knee pads?

Let him learn that falling off hurts ?

Might encourage him to become a better rider ?

you just need to add a skills course into that answer and it would be 100% STW bingo.

Adult elbow pads can work OK, especially ones with forearm protection, which becomes shin protection and stops them slipping down. Easier to pick up second hand too.

I’ve been looking for similar. seems to be cheap (ie strider pads for £15 knee/elbow) or mega expensive (ie bliss for £70!!!)

I tried something else then listened to Jonathan.

Handy being able to pick them up from falling over rather than bleeding out everywhere. Only really used them at the pump track and trails with rock embedded.

Also for elbows Lizard Skins Youths Soft Elbow Guards from various places.

I got my son some g-form pads for BMX racing- they go down to kids sizes. BMX trousers themselves offer a fair bit of skin saving protection, too.

the fox peewee stuff is very small, too – lots of kids at the bmx track with that:

I got chatting to a dad at the skatepark who gave me an old set of skate pads, they look like these

The good thing about them is that they can put them on without taking shoes off.

both my kids are in adult elbow pads.
my larger than average almost 7 year old in Scott d30 elbow pads size small i think.. and my sparrow sized 5year old in Troy Lee shock doctor elbows in XS.
they wear them all day and dont have any rubbing issues and they certainly stay in place while working as required
