For years I have mocked the wearers of kneepads with the ‘Thinks he’s Steve Peat’ type of thing but I have wacked my knees just once too often so am going to bite on the bullet. I won’t be doing any downhill races, I just want something light and easy to pedal in so suggestions would be appreciated.

Who do you think you are Steve Peat? 🙂

661 Kyle Straits, or the very minimal 661 veggie?

I have had some of these for couple of years and they are great – you forget you have them on v. comfortable and have saved me on a few occasions.

Cheap too if you have small knees 🙂

i picked up a pair of these recently http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=3539 as a “better safe than sorry” measure (i had the epiphany whilst lying in the gutter one night having slipped off the kerb staggering home from the pub. was doing pretty much this for a couple of minutes:)

haven’t used them as much as i should – it’s going to be a while getting used to the feeling of a knee covering, and they’re quite bulky & warm. cheap and cheerful though, and seem pretty strong. i got a small (5 7″ and a scrawny runt) and that fits fine with room to grow in case i ever turn into a real man.

    + 661 kyle straights.
Keep my knees warm in winter with shorts and TBH I don’t even notice I’m wearing them most of the time. Can get a bit sweaty in summer but they all do.Best thing about them though is even though I haven’t had any big offs they have protected my knees and legs from lots of scrapes and smaller bangs at slow speed from my frame/pedals and trees etc

Low profile minimalist jobs, and not too pricey…

Can’t go far wrong with 661 Kyle Straits either…

661 evo. They’re pricier than the Straits but I really like mine
