Today my three and a half year old daughter asked “when will it be Christmas day so that the baby will come out of my tummy”. She’s called Maria and had just been in her kindergarten Christmas festival. Well, it made me chuckle.

A friend of ours arranged for her daughter to loan her doll for use in the school play. Once she got it back the doll was known by her as Jesus from that day on. Next year the doll was used for play again, but this time it was decided the school could keep Jesus and the girl would get a new doll instead.

The new doll’s name? – John the Baptist.

Son comes running up to my wife and her mother at the playground. He was 3 or 4 at the time.

“Someone’s written on the ground under the swing!”

Grandma: “That was naughty. What does it say?”

Son says “It says ‘Go **** yourself!'” and runs back to the play equipment.

several looong moments of silence whilst this is digested.

Grandma: “His reading’s coming on isn’t it?”

    nearly 3:
    “Mummy, you’re Santa aren’t you?”
“No, but mummy and Santa both buy presents”
Cue suspicious looks and frowning of brow…

Too much smarts for one so young!

My youngest is only 18 months, so isn’t saying much at all yet that’s discernable as an actual phrase or sentence, however, he unfailingly states “uh-oh” whenever he drops or spills something.

That will almost certainly develop into saying “uh-oh”, with accompanying innocent look, whenever he throws something or pours something on the floor for his own ammusement!

We had to start being more careful what we said when our daughter muttered “fucksake” after dropping something.

3 year old son on being asked what he wants from Father Christmas:

“I love Lego. I’d like some Lego. I don’t want any of that Barbie crap”

    Message received loud and clear!

    our four year old in the car, neither of us really listening to the radio (or so i thought)… she pipes up with;
    “daddy, why can’t she go?”
*cue me looking out the window for someone stuck somewhere*
    “eh?”
    “why can’t she go?”
    “wha?..”

took me a while to realise Frank Sinatra was on the radio, singing “Chicago”!

Walking to the shop last year out youngest said
“What’s that on the ground Daddy?”
I replied “That’s salt, for melting the ice”
Son replies “Oh, do they put pepper on the road too?”

    Class!
