conventional kcnc or the ceramic ones?

used a set of standard ones for a year. sound a bit gritty but still spin ok. iirc tacx do some for about a tenner a pair which work very well.

i’ve got ceramic ones on the superlight and on a road bike.
tbh they dont seam any smoother than xt/ultegra, nor do they improve shifting; but they do look nicer.
longevity? i’ve had them for about a year with no problems, but then i Never had probs with shimano.

i’m not much help, am i?

I had put some cheapo ones in my XTR mech and they have outlasted the shimano ones by miles, I fancy the shiny bling, but was hoping to justify it to myself first!!

I hadnt realised there was 2 types to be honest..

They’re both on Ebay – is that the best place to get them? As long as the bearings are OK the outer part should wear far slower than plastic surely? Are they a bit noisier than plastic?

I have ceramic ones, they’ve been going strong for over a year now.
