I have a Kask vertigo helmet which is a great fit, comfortable and light. But the cradle clashes incredibly annoying with the arm of sunglasses. I have various brands of sunglasses and they’re all the same. The only type of glasses they would work with are ones with a hooped over ear leg rather than straight leg.

Not sure how the Sky boys managed to get through a stage race with such a high level of annoyance – unless the lens of their oakleys were tweaked to fit.

Might try heating up the legs of a cheap pair to see if I can get e better fit.

I’m assuming the mojito and your vertigo have similar cradles.

Nope, it’s a well recognised problem, the Kask helmets are useless with shades.

I looked into it when I was having issues with mine and found a fair number of complaints on various forums expressing the same gripe

The Sky helmets have an adapted cradle apparently, which allows for the glass to sit properly.

I used several pairs of glasses, all with the same problem you described, everything from cheapo Bolle safety specs to Oakleys would not sit right, they either push off from my face or pinch my head leading to pain after a few hours.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t have an issue. Where do the ends of your sunglasses arms sit then? Mine sit on the sides of the cradle which just doesn’t give a good fit at all and they move out of position constantly, put them under the cradle and they get too tight and restrictive as they don’t move properly when I move my head.

I’ve also read that the Sky vertigo’s had a modified cradle to suit oakleys so clearly its a known issue.

You know, I’ve never even thought about it. I’ll have a quick look when I get home after work and report back!

Off the top of my head it could be because I have the cradle quite low on the back of my head so maybe the arms sit above the cradle. To be honest though I’ve no idea how it all interacts.

Nah side of my head same as most people. But I could have my ears anywhere as ear placement isn’t the issue as the arms clash with the cradle not my ears.

Kask protone and oakley split jackets/carrera 70’s pornstar aviators with no issues.

Kask Protone retention cradle looks different though and bearing in mind it was developed ‘in collaboration with Team Sky’ you wouldn’t expect issues using Oakleys.

Mojito & Rudy Rydons sometimes take a bit of fiddling to get them to play nice.

I have more problems trying to wedge them in the vents when I’m not wearing them, have resorted to sticking them on backwards & checking they’re still there every 10 minutes..,

I had that until I realised I could get my sunnies in upside down through some of the wider vents on the front.

Cheers, sure I’ve tried that but will take a lookagain later. Think they were sticking really far out and pretty unstable.
