I'm looking for a very simple Journal for the PC.

Nothing fancy. Just a page of A4, date and a simple search. Possibly with the chance to export as txt or html. Dont want appointments, contacts etc.

Sort of like that Lotus Organizer feel.

Would it be hard to write something like this in flash ? or better still something already done.

Anyone using something or got any suggestions.

    Dead simple with a database.

I did one like this in Filemaker about 15 years ago and turned it into a stand alone app. Still use it with a few modifications. I think it should be simple enough to do with most databases.

Try Evernote (www.evernote.com). Web, mobile and desktop access; tagging; searching – works a treat for me and no point in reinventing the wheel.

Iirc word 2007 comes with a notebook template like this.
Alternatively, how about using a free wordpress blog?
