I've only recently built a Fatbike with the Loop bars. From what I'd read, the H bars mean you can't get the gear shifter up against the brake lever an grips. The Loop bar fixes this.

I've had a couple of rides so far and they're certainly comfy enough. I'm looking forward to using the front loop as a strapping point for sleeping bag etc,.

Not H bars, but I like the On-One Mary bars I've got on my singlespeed. With the old style shimano levers you can hook your hands over the lever reservoir for comfy on the hoods style fire-road climbing. When I fitted them I swapped for a 10mm longer stem cause of the sweep back.
They do become a bit twitchy on steep switchbacks, and because they're comfier and easier, you can relax too much and drop your elbows... Then it can all go a bit wrong if the front wheel snatches sideways on something! Brilliant for climbing though.

This works for me...(see illustration)...Started out originally using them on my rigid singlespeed after a shoulder injury as I found the riding position comfortable...after that they have become quite addictve! Reccommended.

not tried the H bar but i've had a set of Ragley Carnagies for the past year and they've been the most comfy bars i've ever tried.

I started off with the alloy flat bar (as above), just to try it, as it was cheap on ebay but upgraded to the lighter carbon one about 2 months later. As you pick them up cheap onebay it may be worth a punt prior to forking out for the H bar.Posted 4 months ago # -
I have a pair of Titec H bars for sale if you are interested - I found them good but have changed my bike enough that they dont really work for it...

Titec H-bars:
Great, but no room for shifter-pods (so no great loss in my opinion IMO
), that said they are fine with bar-end shifters on thumbies, out on the hooks - tho' that idea might have gone to pot now that the leverage ratio 'twixt road and MTB is apparently different over 10spd (unless you stick to friction shifting with 9-spd bar-end shifters I guess?). Work brilliantly on a SS bike (I think), but feel a bit odd with suspension - although to me, all bikes feel odd with suspension ... Geared:

SS:

Jones Loop bar.
Great. Room for everything (including pods) and more. Longer 'grip' length, plus that loop for lights, more lights, GPSr, lounging about on, et cetera ...
(fairly rubbish picture as 'twas only built last weekend)I found that I needed a longer stem than I'd otherwise have thought with all of the 'Jones' bars, (meaning new hoses / gear cable outers too ...).
Curiously, I didn't get on with Marys, nor with Carnigies, must be an angle thing? (hmm, I feel a 'bars of sale' post in the for-sale section coming on).

Grrr, that ^ needed editing, but the computer crashed and I lose the editing window, so this kinda adds a bit to the above:
#1. The cables/hoses are long on the geared bike in that picture, as the [longer] stem I needed was still on order.
#2. The flat section of the loop bars is kinda swept forward a bit at the ends, compared to the Titec's, and it's this forward sweep and the longer end section that enables you to fit pods in underneath, alongside your brakes.

We've got the titec h-bars on our touring tandem. I like them a lot, you get really good low speed control but can also tuck down at higher speeds on the forward extensions. With a bit of fettling, I've got 10 spd SLX shifters fitted into an acceptable position on them.

I love my H-Bars. Have got both the Jones Ti version and the Titec
Shifters are possible. I found my alfine shifter fitted niceley on the outside of the bar with the brake on the other side.Would really like to try some loop bars........anyone?
