Anyone ever seen an inline giZmo that allows you to join two gear cables?

not seen one but there’s probably ‘not very neat and/or dangerous’ ways of doing it.

could you be more specific about context – is it for a separable frame or a tandem or something?

I vaguely remember seeing one on a bike with an internal hub gear so you could remove the rear wheel more easily. Not much use I know, let me have a google…

These work as well & can save ruining a ride if your gear cable snaps on the trail, different colour options too 🙂

Ta. Hadn’t thought of a chocolate block. That’ll work for the proof of concept.

    Rolhoff one looks nice.

The sjs one’s work very well, had them on my s&s road bikes for years, never came apart or misbehaved

My Thorn has the bayonet ones and they’ve behaved faultlessly for 7 years.

What’s the point? A new cable costs £2. I’ve never snapped a cable so cannot see the point? Or are these for tandems??

The point is I want to join two gear cables.

I’ve “tied” 2 together using pliers, worked fine.

if it’s for a “tandem project”, gear cables come in tandem lengths too.

    why though?

Have you got a cable that’s snapped? Or have you got some crazy bike we all want to see pics off? Seriously you have my imagination flowing (not in a sexy way!)

its not a tandem or a snapped cable.

its making two incompatible things, compatible. aka bodging.

Is it to fix a pushchair? I fixed the extending handle on our quinny by joining an old gear cable to the unique cable end in the handle so that the push button would work again.

    Type
    Steel rope clamp
    Into ebay.

Sailing rigging clamps, small and cheap.
