As ive been roped into becoming a combined cadet force leader at work, and as we all know only the navy can have beards..

So for the sake of one afternoon a week steel must scrape my face once more for the first time since Oct 31st 2006

    We are unamused.

If it’s CCF, is there not an RN section?

If not, can you (in the tradition of RAF officers serving with the FAA) get a note that says you have a skin condition exacerbated by shaving?

Sounds like sexual discrimination to me.

Just make sure you leave enough time to get the job done.

Why are you even tolerating some bloke with Napoleonic tendencies giving you grief about a beard when you’re doing him a favour by volunteering your time for the CCF.

Obviously, having never been in the CCF this is simply an opinion, but if all the kids have to talk about afterwards is how incredibly clean-shaven the staff were… 😉

I can relate to Flaperon’s comment about Napoleonic tendencies.

This is reason that many years ago I stopped being an adult instructor in the ACF was for this reason.
Too many old men playing at being officers (in most cases because their fathers actaully used to be) and expecting far too much from the cadets, who are just children.

There were however some very good people there, mainly those who were actually ex forces and took it for what it was. A military based youth club.

Sorry rant over, now go get a shave

You don’t need to shave just because its the cadets – they’re just as happy if you wax.

I have CCF place next to me. It seems that the instructors sit around whilst the kids practice drill outside all the time. Been tempted to get involved but I suspect that they work on a shoestring budget and proper training opportunities would be limited. I also expect instructors have to do parades (always hated drill).

Beneath your beard lies a pair of jowls resembling uncooked mutton.

    Just thought I’d share…

Will you still be able to ride singlespeed without a beard?

RAF CCF not even allowed a classic handlebar moustache. It must be neatly trimmed.

It’s not a full on beard. I’d be happy to 0.5 it. Just not George Doors smooth. Shaved head shaved face not good

If someone told me to shave so that I could do them a favour I’d tell them to shove it. Particularly if it involved some tinpot army wannabe with a god complex.

Alternatively tell him that you did shave but now have sideburns that are so long that they meet in the middle.
