It is a touch warm though isn’t it really. We’re not geared up for these extended periods of warmth and to continue with our daily regime.

I feel sorry for those on public transport in these conditions.

I love being warm. I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to be this warm.

The tea thing is relatively credible, though.

I’m driving to the West of Ireland tomorrow. By Friday, I’ll be at less than half the temperature it’s been in Bristol today. And it’ll be **** raining. So I’m enjoying this unbearable heat while I can. With a cider. 🙂

But doesn’t the caffeine in tea dehydrate too? (a tiny amount I know)

But it IS too hot . . .

I like these temperatures but it’s the humidity that gets me.

Been sweating like Dianne Abbot in a maths exam in the machine shop at work today!

I was just reading in the Metro about some councils sending out the gritters to spread granite dust because the tarmac was melting and sticking to car tyres.

    So yeah…

    Yes and No

The hydrating effects of the mainly water in a cup of tea or coffee outweigh the dehydrating effects of the caffeine.

It’s not as good v/v as pure water, or isotonic drinks or whatever, but a cup of tea is better than not having a cup of tea.

Not sure where the cut off comes – does ristretto or espresso dehydrate more than the liquid they provide?

Been out for an arduous 1hr 45 mins on the bike tonight, I ha e to be honest it was ridiculously hot! That after a day of proper grafting groundworking has seen me consume about 4 litres of water so far today!

It sounds like it isn’t that credible to me?

Article says it only works if all the excess sweat you produce can evaporate, but i’d imagine most people are at their upper limit of sweatiness (esp. if it’s 34 degrees) already, even more so if you are wearing clothes because you are in an office.

I’m currently amongst some folks who say “I’m mafted” I think it means hot, but it could be slang for any number of colloquial verbalised chit-chat.
