Look at the state of the lilo masquerading as a inflatable boat in the link. That is clearly manufactured for the sole purpose its being used for there.

Made in China perhaps with a one way trip in mind, bet you could find a importer bringing those and Parson outboards in somewhere in every country on the south side of the Med.

Its just business, but disgusting on every level.

And yet in Milan a few weeks ago there was a massive demonstration, supported by all sorts of people, against the disappearance/removal of asylum seekers.

most civilisations have been taken down by changing climate and over exploitation of resources, don’t see why anyone is surprised this is happening.

and at a sensible politcal level this is the result of many years of prodding and poking by many other nations for their own profit and interests. Those nations UK/US included need to step up and help these people and help to repair the damage caused.

The people who are suffering are those that cannot do anything about it.

And this is part of the problem….. people not making the distinction between “asylum seekers” and the generic term “migrants”. It’s acceptable to protest against the removal of genuine asylum seekers and yet demand that something is done about illegal/uncontrolled migration.

Interesting in the context of brexit to see how the EU responds to Italy.

The demonstrators did not make that distinction:

Generally, all the clips we see on Spanish TV show migrants wearing life jackets.

With numbers like “10 000 people in the last four days” in the mix, there must be warehouses full of inflatable boats and life-jackets.

Dreadful situation largely of Europe/EU’s own making via destabilisation of Libya and totally mishandling the subsequent situation

how the EU responds to Italy.

Well 2 years ago they completely removed funding for Naval Support relying on individual countries. Post Brexit and problems in their own countries the response has been “the problem is all yours mate”

@spekkie I assume you have seen the video from the Spanish enclaves in Morocco of migrants storming the fences ? Vice News did a documentary series on them maybe 2 years ago ?

    Is it jambafact o’clock, already?

Never let the truth get in the way of stirring up more fear & hatred eh?

The prime minister promised, in September 2011, that he would not allow Libya to turn into another Iraq, but that, said senior Conservative MP Andrew Tyrie, is effectively what has happened in the four years since the toppling of long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Mr Cameron led international efforts, with France, to back rebels fighting to overthrow Gaddafi and impose a no-fly zone over the country, overcoming initial reservations from the EU and US President Barack Obama

Yeah it’s obviously all the EUs fault, maybe if people spent more time listening to Corbyn and less to the Tories, the world would be a better place

jambalaya – we weren’t here then but the same thing happened maybe 6 months ago. The guys only had to get over the fence and they were considered “in”.

That could well reverse the flow of refugees.
