I have a work microsoft surface 3 , i need to play dvd’s on it both at my desk and away from my desk so am looking for a external dvd player. i am finding it hard to source one that works . the surface 3 only has one usb (usb3?) which appears to be low power . so it seems to struggle powering up the external player i tried also it may have no software to play dvds .
does anyone know of a compatible dvd drive?

The common fix appears to be to use a Y Cable for the USB, plug one in to the surface for the data and then the other in to a mains USB charger to help power it.

Most of the samsung drives come with these but worth checking first.

then rip the DVDs to a USB stick or a micro SD card or similar if you have access to them before your appearance.
