The shutdown last night was to get the back end ready for what's to come.
Important to state that today's planned launch is step one of many. But it's a quite a major one for us even if it's something that isn't of interest to everyone. There's an incredible amount of work gone on and is ongoing behind the scene – mostly to do with making lots of databases talk to each other and generally behave 🙂 We still have a lot to do. Parts of the process are still going to be manual at our end for a few more weeks, which is why we are rolling it out slowly to batches of users at a time.
There's no real priority in terms of who gets picked first, and even if picked you may not be interested in it, at least not in this initial phase.
From our point of view it marks the start of a new way we work as a publisher of bike content and it's not unprecedented in the big publishing world. How publishers distribute their content is changing massively at the moment, from mags to newspapers. Luckily we are in a pretty good position to mess about at the bleeding edge…
Sorry about the vagueness but we are still tweaking stuff. All will be revealed 🙂
