I was quite pleased that when Singletrack revamped their paper/print/look etc that the paper didn’t smell like Prvateer, Roleur, and another magazine I used to buy Straight No Chaser.

But this latest issue, even though it looks and feels the same as the previous ones, stinks.

I tend to read Singletrack in bed before sleep and the smell is just headache inducing.

Just thought I should air my objection in case it influenced future production.

Oooooh, I may just have to pop into WHS for a quick sniff 😛 . Used to love ripping open the new Littlewoods catalogue as a kid to that smell.

Just opened mine as I was away at the weekend. It smell yes, rather pleasant, certainly I don’t think mine if overpowering. Certainly not as strong as Privateer did.

Didn’t notice my copy smelt at all.

I used to rush to get the Littlewoods catalogue first as well, but that’s going a bit off topic… 😳

I thought it was a lovely smell… second only to freshly opened Post-It notes.

    Littlewoods catalogue smell is different.
Previous ST issues had that smell.
    This issue is like Privateer.

It smells of quality, but it induces headaches for me.

I work from home on my own – I’m allowed to stink.

It smells like a magazine to me. 😕

Cash: I would hazard a guess there was a certain section that was well “thumbed”?????

Doesn’t stink on my PC. 😀

Good issue though. Interesting to see what other people think about my local trails (I like their inclusion in the ‘international travel’ section), and the Highland challenge write-up is ace.

It’s a new sheetfed process of printing. Colour reproduction and sharpness is much better and we love the smell too 🙂

It smells amazing. You should do Singletrack car (or bike van) air fresheners that have this smell. Freebie for next month?

I think it might obscure my vision a bit too much if I hang it from the mirror.

    I guess it’s staying then 🙁

I’d consider unsubbing if it wasn’t for the fact I seem to be paying very little over the cost of a premier online-only sub.

I’ll just read it outdoors 🙂

It’s a fairly ubiquitous process. We haven’t done anything different to how millions of other sheet fed publications are produced. It’s a higher quality process but nothing unique to magazines. And we’ve done it without any increase in costs to readers 🙂

I noticed it. I quite like the smell. And Mrs N didn’t comment so it can’t be that bad.

The Kay’s catalogue was superior to Littlewood’s in ‘that’ crucial way IMO.

Bloody internet’s ruined all that now………
