Is there any such thing as an external 1.5 to 1.1/8 reducer headset?

Across make them. They are 70 pounds new, and fantastic quality.
I have one which was used for 2 weeks in the alps, and is in absolutely mint condition...
It is exactly the same as this in red... http://www.balfa.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=33_31_34&products_id=124
And i'll even chuck in some red U.S.E headset spacers to match...

Thanks Lyons it's all speculative at the moment but I'll keep your offer in mind. That Acros one does appeal.
