Moved to disc brakes for the first time about a month ago and the brakes came with organic pads as standard. Just wopndering, is it worth changing to sintered and keeping the organic pads as spares? What difference woudl I expect?

    Thanks!

sintered will last longer esp in winter…I’d use the organics for the summer though.

Ah ok, so primary difference is longevity in crappy conditions?

Sintered can squeal too much which puts me off. SS organic pads are cheap as chips which swung it for me.

poppa – for me, yes. I think there are other minor differences too but that’s the biggie.

I used resin for a year or so and then changed to XT discs that come with sintered pads.

Resin wear out faster but they work miles better, i’ll be changing back to resin.

if you ride somewhere like the peaks, the grit quickly eats your kit, and sintered stands up to these conditions better.
