It’s always time for a spaniel thread!

Here’s my sprocker (on the left) and one of his brothers at a mini reunion last weekend. They hadn’t seen each other for 10 months (they’ve just turned 1) but they were really excited, definitely recognised one another. Interestingly, the brother had lost his balls at 6 months and made our dog (still intact) look really calm and mature in comparison.

spaniels are the best, but I’ve always been drawn to welshies for some reason unknown – for a while we thought our collie-x might have some in her .. but now we think it’s jack russell 🙁

that’s interesting about the balls – we fostered a goldie who’s 6 and still got his, and he’s the most docile and laid-back creature I’ve met

My Labradinger is still ‘intact’ and is so gentle and calm. He is very timid with other dogs though which isn’t always great, 🙁 but fights back if they have a go. 🙂

Best dog ever, Toby on the other hand is a 10yr old gluten intolerant, un-trainable ball of ADHD that chases deer (but we still love him).

Toffee is so little! Glad you went for a spaniel in the end. 🙂 It’s a good idea to let them off the lead (in a safe place) when they’re that young as they won’t be brave enough to go too far from you. Keep recalling her with some tasty incentives and it’ll be ingrained soon enough.

Cheers – yes we plan on doing it soon as we are very fortunate in having in-laws with a big field in which we can test her out in relatively safe surroundings. She is coming to heel quite regularly when I play in our garden though 🙂

This very thread will be used against me the next time Mrs Knob suggests its time for a spaniel puppy, and I’m trying to be sensible
    🙄

Why wouldn’t you want a spaniel puppy? Amazing dogs.

Here’s a recent pic of Lucas, now 18 months. Mum is an English springer, dad a welsh springer / black lab cross. He’s a Cambrian Springerlabradinger.

He’s also still intact… for now at least. Well behaved and mellow at home, but goes loopy when he goes riding with me.

Here is my lovely Heidi who’s sadly no longer with us. She passed away last September after a nasty tumour. She was 13, but besides that tumour she was in good health and spirits and was full of beans. She’s absolutely missed every day. Love seeing these threads of happy dogs.

Just like to say that I find the doggy/puppy pic threads just as rewarding as the shed building ones. That’s all.

Brilliant. Toffee is a cracker. Louis looks awesome! Looking at them all, it’s the eyes, really beautiful and convey their intelligence.

I think when they judge the spaniels at Crufts they should be eau natural – covered in mud, tongue hanging out and running everywhere flat out and looking deranged!

more pics of Nell, sorry couldn’t resist:

I agree, do they do a scrufts? 🙂

Nell looks young, how old is she?

Louis, is 8 years old and if something has been knocked over, run into, or slobbered over, it will have been him.

Oh and he’s also my babe magnet, all the wimmens love him down the pub 😀

Unless it’s when the bar maid says up to him and he leaps straight up onto the bar knocking everyone’s pints over! 🙁

Most of those pics are last year, she’s now 20 months old.

I’ve also noticed the feminine introductory catalyst nature of the spaniel. 😉
