Bike clothing after a 'dirty ride'...As above, co I'm fed up of 'getting done' by the missis for doing just so! Apparently I am supposed to shake/hose them down first... Just a rant.

Me too. Apparently the fine mud borks the machine. Supposed to rinse them in the shower with me before putting them in but then I get moaned at for dropping/dripping mud upstairs. I chuck 'em straight in the machine when she's not looking. For one half-day at the wkend I'm I mountain biker FFS get used to it woman!

I've thrown them in the washer straight away since I was a kid. Don't think we've ever had a washing machine failure actually.

I chuck the muddy kit in. But have found it's worth checking the filter on the bottom right of most washing machines. I pull out a few bits of gravel every 6months of so.
Also a fan of the cycle shoes in the dishwasher trick. Obviously with no plates in there.Posted 5 months ago # -

I put my stuff straight into a bucket of water for a rinse, then into the washing machine. Its easy enough to do and it keeps the missus happy.

Shower in dirty clothes, peal off, roll up wet - put clean'ish clothes, in plastic bag (that you took up with you to shower room) finish showering, throw clothes in washing machine (without bag) Turn dial to designated temp, put washing liquid in big hole in the middle of machine, close door, press "go"
Are you capable of doing such simple tasks???

My view is that if it's able to spray from the wheels onto your clothing, it will come off just as easily in the washing machine.

strip naked in the garage, hand filthy clothes to mrs nbt (or leave in a neat pile in front of the washing machine), go for a shower. I'm not allowed inside the house when dirty.
still, the clothes come back clean a couple of days later and there was only that one time when mrs nbt's mum had popped round for a cuppa while I was out. took me ages to get the tea stains off the wall...

If I wanted to hand-wash my clothes before I put them in the washing machine, I wouldn't have bought a farking washing machine. They come out clean, right? What's the issue here exactly?
You want to grow a pair like me; my OH would never tell me what to put in the washing machine (because I do all the washing).

You don't know what you're missing junkyard.He's talking about the other house we lived in, where the garage was about 20 metres away from the house. Gave the elderly neighbours a thrill at the weekends.

Had to clean mud out of a blocked outlet filter a few too many times. Mud also lurks in the door seal. So yes, if it really is muddy, (today was special...) sure I rinse some of the mud off first. Takes only a minute. Why not?

Yup, mine could.
However as I say, never needed to. Just checked my outlet filter and pump and door seal after a monster wet one today, no signs of mud. Guess it's fairly machine specific.
Although I pre-wash too in the washer, after rinsing in the sink, then a full wash.
