Bike clothing after a 'dirty ride'...As above, co I'm fed up of 'getting done' by the missis for doing just so! Apparently I am supposed to shake/hose them down first... Just a rant.

Is it that unreasonable to put dirty clothes in a washer?!!

You'll be buying the new washer when it knacks then? If so, party on Dude.

I hose the crap off first otherwise the missus ends up with "gritty knickers".

You need a pair of these.

Me too. Apparently the fine mud borks the machine. Supposed to rinse them in the shower with me before putting them in but then I get moaned at for dropping/dripping mud upstairs. I chuck 'em straight in the machine when she's not looking. For one half-day at the wkend I'm I mountain biker FFS get used to it woman!

Quick hose down to remove the worst, then chuck in the washer

After a dirty ride I think the least you can do is respect your wifes sensitivities.

I've thrown them in the washer straight away since I was a kid. Don't think we've ever had a washing machine failure actually.

Same here always done it and never had trouble with the washer.

I chuck the muddy kit in. But have found it's worth checking the filter on the bottom right of most washing machines. I pull out a few bits of gravel every 6months of so.
Also a fan of the cycle shoes in the dishwasher trick. Obviously with no plates in there.Posted 5 months ago # -
Yeah, get some trousers, grow a pair! Make yur missus unhappy, thst's what real men do.

I put my stuff straight into a bucket of water for a rinse, then into the washing machine. Its easy enough to do and it keeps the missus happy.

Fortunately I had the good sense to marry a woman who doesn't give a flying f*** about such trivialities.

Well, that's what is important in a marriage, after all.
Posted 5 months ago # -
who cares she can wash them how she likes after she has picked them up off the floor where I left them.

Shower in dirty clothes, peal off, roll up wet - put clean'ish clothes, in plastic bag (that you took up with you to shower room) finish showering, throw clothes in washing machine (without bag) Turn dial to designated temp, put washing liquid in big hole in the middle of machine, close door, press "go"
Are you capable of doing such simple tasks???
Thats what Women think.

To shower in the dirty clothes you have to walk through the house in them trailing mud everywhere, surely?
Posted 5 months ago # -
Chuck mine in the washer. It's cool
Posted 5 months ago # -
My view is that if it's able to spray from the wheels onto your clothing, it will come off just as easily in the washing machine.

strip naked in the garage, hand filthy clothes to mrs nbt (or leave in a neat pile in front of the washing machine), go for a shower. I'm not allowed inside the house when dirty.
still, the clothes come back clean a couple of days later and there was only that one time when mrs nbt's mum had popped round for a cuppa while I was out. took me ages to get the tea stains off the wall...

The Artist +1 !
Though I tend to disrobe at the door when I'm very muddy. Much better this time of year when the top layer is muddy and there is another layer underneath

+1 (though not married)

Jesus, how many of you have a missus that can repair a washer anyway? Thought not, it's my sh*t ok, but it'll be me that has the thing to fix.
Posted 5 months ago # -
Boys, boys, bikebuoy has got it right.
Although I pre-wash too in the washer, after rinsing in the sink, then a full wash.

If I wanted to hand-wash my clothes before I put them in the washing machine, I wouldn't have bought a farking washing machine. They come out clean, right? What's the issue here exactly?
You want to grow a pair like me; my OH would never tell me what to put in the washing machine (because I do all the washing).

tbh if I lived with him I would make him walk through the house naked as well

You don't know what you're missing junkyard. He's talking about the other house we lived in, where the garage was about 20 metres away from the house. Gave the elderly neighbours a thrill at the weekends.

Had to clean mud out of a blocked outlet filter a few too many times. Mud also lurks in the door seal. So yes, if it really is muddy, (today was special...) sure I rinse some of the mud off first. Takes only a minute. Why not?
Posted 5 months ago # -
If its not the mud knackering the machine then it's leftover dirt on the next wash

Yup, mine could.
However as I say, never needed to. Just checked my outlet filter and pump and door seal after a monster wet one today, no signs of mud. Guess it's fairly machine specific.

You've got to be kidding. I'm speechless.
