A friend (yes a friend) found an iPad Mimi2 in the road seven months ago. He contacted the police, advertised on a local lost and found face book page and put up posters. He said he has not heard from anyone so has offered it to another friend ( yes another friend). Is it a useless paperweight or can it be opened? So far it has charged and that’s it.

If your ‘friend’ is taking it for their own, then you should be able to wipe it and start again:

If the find feature is enabled it’s a paperweight, this needs turning off in iCloud if you want to erase it and use it as your own.

There are NO ifs, buts, or maybes.

Is it a useless paperweight or can it be opened?
