    Why is it that either STW or my laptop makes strange arbitary decisions as to which thread it will allow me to open?

    Some threads open so easily, yet others just 'lock down' and jam up the page….

    (maybe i should actually do something constructive instead!)

    Try a different browser? That should allow you to isolate the problem – tho as it's working fine for me (Firefox) I suspect it's your set up.

    Just having a go, and it seems i can open every thread i try apart from the 'melanie philips-sane' thread.
