How the shit do you turn it off? Can't find an option for it in preferences.

Edit- go to choose an image->editor's picks->scroll down to the bottom and choose white.
Brilliantly you can then not read the link text

instaed of http://www.google.com

You can get a Google (or Bing) toolbar for most browsers and never have to visit the main page again…

Funnily enough it tells you all about it if you click the link on the front on the google home page.

Or if you use Chrome you can search directly in the address bar or Firefox use the integrated search option.

When I open a new tab, I have it set to default to google.
