The FC are busy working through the forest right now. I had a few updates this morning and they’ve made good progress on the Monkey but Sections of the Dog (High Voltage and the section alongside Marquis Drive) and Lower Cliff have been severely affected.
Wind has dropped off today but local forecast for tomorrow has the forestry commission concerned and they will be out over the weekend keeping tabs on things.
Some sections of the trail have been damaged by the fallen trees so it’s not just a case of trees lying on the trail. This also menas that longer closure of some of the sections may apply.
The FC do not block off all of the trail and place security to stop people, they use tape and signage but it’s hoped that common sense and basic respect for the facilities are applied.
As Scruff says you could come face to face with machinery in use clearing trees and there are likely to be a number of hung trees which will be unstable and could fall unexpectedly.
It sounds like scaremongering but is it really so bad to miss a ride of the trails once in a while?
