I’d like an ipod to listen to music when on the turbo.

    something cheap like the shuffle

can I download stuff off youtube onto it?

    is this hard to do?

With some time and patience you could probably manage, but I suggest it would be too tedious to bother. You’d have to somehow extract the audio from the You Tube video, convert it to a format that will play on an iPod and sync it to your iPod via iTunes.

    I know I wouldn’t bother.

http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ will make an mp3 from a Youtube video which you then need to put into iTunes etc.

Useful for rare/unusual stuff that’s only on Youtube, but more fuss than necessary unless you’re really determined not to pay anything for music.

    Not really much effort.

actually it’s dead easy and I do it all the time.
Google ‘youtube to mp3’ any of the top 5 hits will see you right. Paste the video url into the box and hit go, gives you a link to save the file to your computer, then just put the file into a playlist on itunes, plug your pod in and sync.
The sound does tend to be a bit compressed & tinny but if you just want to hear a tune on your ipod it’s a method that does work. Also expect a couple of pop ups on those sites.
