Anyway. Latest breaking news is the phone has turned itself off. I guessed it was out of charge so wandered off to the shop and bought a new charger which is basically a plug and a USB cable.

How come your new employer have given you an iPhone but no charge/kit/etc?

Is it a new phone, i.e. out of the box, or did it belong to a random member of staff?

How long after plugging it into the mains does it take before you can turn the phone on again?

What did you do with your Nokia when it was charging? Did you ever gamble on turning it on? I'd take a punt if was you.

    I am damn tempted.

I didn't 'get' the iPhone and Apple coolness. I still don't. I went into the Apple store to buy the charger and that bit was easy, the helpful person got me the right bit and then I paid. So far, so good.

Me : Can I have a receipt please
Her : Can I have you email address and I will send you one.
Me : No, I want a paper receipt
Her : It is easier if I email it to you
Me : No, I need a paper receipt because my company demands them
Her : Oh, I can email you one and you could print it.
Me : Please can I just have a paper receipt
Her : Okay, I will just ask how to do that…returns with paper receipt
    Me : Thanks, bye
Her : I need your email address.
    Me : Why?
Her : So I can send you your receipt
    Me : Unghhhh! No thanks

Spacemonkey – it was from a random member of staff. It arrived as just the handset in a jiffy bag

I have tried turning it on but nothing happens. The Nokia worked pretty much as soon as you plugged it in, I was hoping the iPhone might do the same

    Google beats STW shocker

Hold down the home button (on the front of the phone) and the hold button (on the top right corner of the phone) at the same time.

Don't let them go or else you'll take a screenshot.

If the slider to turn the phone off appears, continue holding both buttons.

After 10 seconds or so, the phone's should go dark.

Then hold down the hold button at the top right until the Apple logo appears onscreen and the phone begins to boot up.

If it's really flat it does take about 10 mins before you can switch it on even if it's plugged in.

I didn't 'get' the iPhone and Apple coolness

Me neither but I still got one as I reckon it's the best one out there and worth the price. YMMV

Pictures of the iPhone browsing STW or you don't really have one.
