Guys, looking for some info/advice to see if there is a decent app I can download onto my phone that will show routes etc for when we’re on the hills?
We were up Ben Nevis last Sunday and got yapping to a fella who had an app on his iPhone, it showed the route and current position etc, it was hellish weather and I forgot to ask what the app was…
What do you guys use, and what is recommended? It’s purely to use as a toy, not to rely on as we always have a map etc..
    Cheers

I quite like the OS one, too.

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/os-mapfinder/id577097874?mt=8 and map tiles appear to be on offer…

ViewRanger is the bee’s knee’s. You can download a 1:250,000 OS overall map, then download 1:25k or 1:50k maps in squares with your credits. You’ll get £15 of credits with the £10 download and at 1:50k that’ll cover around 20% of UK.
It reads GPX and whatnot from the likes of Walkhighlands.
