  • iPad/safari – how do I create a bookmark

My old laptop finally died so I bought an iPad today.

Seems to like rotating the screen at the slightest excuse.
Doesn’t have swype type like my phone
Is heavy to hold as I cannot rest the keyboard on my belly when I type

I am sure I will over come these problems but what I am currently struggling with is safari.

How do I bookmark stw so I don’t have to type it in each time?
Is there an Incognito equivalent for secret browsing?

Sorry for being dumb but I come from PC land where things had instructions

    Cheers

Go for the box / arrow next to the page box

On the latest version of iOS you will have a pop up with the bookmark symbol on that.

Best app for in private browsing is Atomic Web Browser IMHO

In settings you can set the slider switch (near the volume controls) to act as a rotation lock, if you want.

    Bookmark sorted!

It is now intuitive not to click the bookmark icon when trying to do bookmark stuff. I guess I must have an Android head rather than an Apple one.

Now to test the porn browser, I mean privacy browser

Tap the box with an arrow on it, you’ll see a bunch of icons, one of them will have the STW ST linked logo on it, with ‘Save to home screen’ underneath. Tap that, and you’ll have it added to your home screen as a web app. Simples.
You can do this with any page that you want quick access to, otherwise create a series of folders in Safari Bookmarks, the open book icon, and just save things into the appropriate folder. It’s not difficult to sus out.
Oh, and it’s dead easy to lock the screen rotation; above the volume controls on the right hand side there’s a switch, slide it up.

You can add a screen lock code to Atomic Web as well as in private so it’s very secure for personal info and / or porn 😉

Get a Marware CEO case for your ipad, you can flip it up like a laptop have it flat backed on your hand with the integral handhold, paid 30 for mine off ebay- much more in the chains

Decided to wait on the privacy browser as I can’t turn the sound off and wife is in the next room. 😉

I looked at a few cases and holders – are they really just cardboard wrapped I plastic leather fro forty quid?

Plenty of cases available for £10-15 do some online searches, you have the time ….

Rotation lock is cool, you can slide to off to rotate a picture to fill screen then slide on and rotate device

I prefer bookmark to homescreen then to organise the icons – I assume you know you can have many pages of I ins and/or organise them into directories

iCloud is useful to sync your photos assuming you have an iPhone

    Enjoy …

I love the Photostream function, taking pics with the phone, knowing I’ll be able to view them on the Pad without any phaffing around! I copy photos taken on my camera onto my Pad with the Photokit adaptor, which means I can be away from home with the Pad, and be able to view photos straight away. Brilliant for looking at photos on.

I can heartily recommend Lente cases:

Top build quality, relatively inexpensive, ergonomically excellent, nice and protective, and made in Britain I believe.

Don’t get a case. You don’t want extra weight and bulk while you are using it.

Get a sleeve instead. I have this one. It is cheap (£8 off amazon) but very nice:

Ignore the spec, it houses an iPad 3 perfectly.

i have the logitech ultraslim bluetooth keyboard. holds the ipad at a perfect angle, works perfectly. protects the screen when closed.

not cheap but worth every penny of my employers money…

I much prefer the case, IME it’s massively easier to hold the pad with the grippier surface and a little extra thickness. The additional weight isn’t noticeable in the slightest. And it’s still protected if you drop it while using it.
