    What is good?

I got a simple sleeve one with aluminium insert to pretect the screen. Didn’t want something bulky that detracts from the portability and beauty of the iPad itself.

We have an iPad at work which is now encased in an Otterbox iPad Defender case.

The iPad now looks like it could survive a nuclear blast but it also look deeply uncool.

And lets face it, one of the reasons that you have an iPad is to look cool right.

Made one myself, it’s ace. Gutted a hardback book, made a frame from balsa wood with elastic to hold it in place. Looks a bit DIY when open, but like…a book, when shut. Offers good protection and ease of use tho.

    I got the apple one.
    Seems to do the job.
Although I concede it does not cover screen..

Thanks all. I guess i need to pin down what the use of the case would be – storage/transport… or when using it. That dodo one is very nice, btw. It’s similar to a moleskine one i saw.

Strange, I have an Apple one that does cover the screen.. like a little black book you open. Seems good enough for an office softy like me. Also converts into a little stand so you can have an £800 digital picture frame..

Yeh I have the apple one too, doesn’t offer a huge amount of protection but it protects it enough for me. Looks pretty too. And mine covers the screen.

Mine’s like that dodo one, but only cost me £3 in a charity shop for the bits. As I say, not as neat open.

Here’s a dodgy pic of it:

i have the apple one, how ever the first couple of times removing it to attach to the dock is a pain in the big round sitty things.

is a very good case for the money, how ever in some cases is stiff and will keep a bend when used as a stand.

In my opinion it is worth the money.

Apple one here too. Does the job well. Just make sure you tuck the flappy bit in, looks rubbish if you don’t

Jon, there’s a company over in Gateshead that make simple cloth slipcases, I’m sure if you used your influence they might lend you a couple to try….

I’ve just taken delivery of a Grove wooden case for my iPhone – they are working on an iPad case. It’s lovely, you can have a look next time I see you:

I think if it was my money though i’d get a dodocase:

There is a new one from incase that looks like a winner.

It is closest to the horrible Apple one without being tacky and sharp at the edges.

Surprised these have not been mentioned yet (warning, hideous amounts of money!):

    http://www.vajacases.com

aside from the interesting name 😯 they offer some truly lovely cases, but you do have to be careful as they can be bulky.

I still have one of thiers from my original iPod circa 2002, and it is still doing great service.

For the iPad I got the leather agenda 2, in custom colours, and it’s great. I had a macally one which appears a great combo of price and functionality, but the tab broke off after a month, and it did it again on the replacement. Avoid.

I also had a belkin one that had a handstrap on the back, quite handy for reading in bed, but a bit bulky and hideous.

    Love my vaja. ahem. 😉

Vaja cases do indeed look superb, though be careful as there have been loads of complaints about their custom stuff lately taking months to come through.
