We’re off on our holibobs tomorrow, getting the train to Barca (via London/Paris) tomorrow, then to Seville on Sunday, arriving about 1pm, then a train later in the afternoon to Jerez.

It’s the Little Lady’s birthday on Sunday, so I’d like to take her somewhere nice for lunch when we get to Seville. Anyone know of anywhere good, that’s not too far from the station?

I used to live 2 mins from that station.. How long will you have? 1pm until when?

There’s a couple of ok places near the station, but some FANSTASTIC places a short tube ride away.

    MacDonalds. 😀

    Seriously.
I was in a MacDonalds in Seville once, just near the Cathedral and it was truly lovely.
The building I mean, NOT the food. Only Maccy D’s I’ve ever been in with 17th century stained glass windows.
    A beautiful city. I’m jealous.

Raify – we’ve probably got until 4ish, we’re not booked on a train to Jerez, we just have to get one.

You say tube ride, I didn’t think Santa Justa had a tube (Metro?) stop?

1-4? Just enough time to eat lunch in Sevilla!

There’s a new metro been installed, it’s not joined up with Santa Justa yet, but there’s a stop by the football stadium about 10 mins stroll south of the station. Or, you could get a bus quite easily into town.

After allowing 30mins each way travelling time, that would leave you about 2 hrs to eat in the centre of Seville. A much better choice I reckon, because the Santa Justa / Nervion area is ok, but not fantastic.

Let me know what sort of food / spend you’re thinking about (and if you’re up for travelling into the centre), and I’ll come up with some suggestions…

    Smashing, ta.

Looking for local/spanish type stuff, don’t mind swanky and a bit pricey, or characterful and cheaper, as long as it’s good. Looking for good atmosphere and food above all.

    Okay, cool!

First, when you get off the train, find a ticket office and get a “Tarjeta turistica 1 dia” (one day tourist card). Like an oyster card, you can get a €5.00 or €10.00. Think 5 will be enough for both of your journeys.

Then you’ve got 2 choices to get into town:

    1. Get a 28 bus going to “Prado” Get off at Prado (It’s a big bus station), and hop on the tram going in the same direction towards Plaza Nueva. It’s 2 stops to the Plaza Nueva (or you could get off one before to see the Cathedral)

    2. Walk from the station south, down Kansas City then Luis de Morales. At the intersection with Morales and Eduardo Dato, you’ll find a metro station that can take you to Plaza Nueva.

Taking the Cathedral as a start point, everything is within 10-15 mins stroll:

In order of poshness / price.

    1. http://www.abadestriana.com/en/ A very swanky and delicious restaurant. Not crazily expensive, but not cheap either. You should book if you want to eat here. Not a tapas style, more traditional starter main etc but still Spanish food.

It’s on the other side of the river, with beautiful views of Seville. From the Cathedral, walk down Constitucion, turn right onto the San Telmo bridge, walk across the river and turn right. 10-15 mins walk from the Cathedral

    2. http://www.restauranteoriza.com/ Near to the bus station Prado (so walk from there if you want this), or from the Cathedral, walk south down Constitucion, turn left at the fountain following the tram line. Find it at the end on the left. Classic Spanish tapas, a bit more upmarket than standard. Tiny bit touristy but good food.

    3. Calle Adriano has 2 really good tapas places. More clasically Spanish, little nibbles whilst perched on tall tables. first is Pepe Hillo, the other is El Baratillo. Both are on the right hand side (when heading towards river). With your back to the cathedral and Constitucion going right/left look for the bakery called Horno San Buenaventura (which is also lovely), Garcia de Vinuesa street is on the right of the bakery, walk down then onto Adriano.

    4. On the way to Adriano is a 5 Jotas Jamon Serrano place which is worth visiting if you’re a fan of Jamon.

    5. Find your way to plaza San Salvador. From North East corner of Plaza Nueva, near the town hall, take c/ Entre Carceles towards Plaza San Salvador. La Alicantina is in the far corner: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/La+Alicantina/@37.3898663,-5.9932834,19z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x6d03d04cfdbb260b
Nice place to sit outside here.

Those are a few of my favourites, a few choices in case something is closed on a Sunday…
