The best sandwich I think I’ve ever had was called the Godfather from a deli in Castle Douglas. I can almost taste it now. Cured hams, olives, sundried toms, emmantal…… I’ve never managed to recreate the taste.
The thought of another turkey or Stilton based sarnie is bringing me down.
So what’s in the box for tomorrow?

    Presumably a 275 Ti hardtail with a 120 fork.

Oh wait. This is the sarnie forum.

That’d be Deli 173 then, I prefer a Zorba ciabatta myself, feta/tomato/olives/basil/rocket and a few of those soft cheese filled tiny chili peppers if there’s any room left in the ciabatta.

Best homemade is toasted cheese and baked beans.
Best bought was a turkey, mayo, stuffing and cranberry sauce one from Toppers in Wallington, Surrey. It’s now shut down. Life sucks.

Very strong Cheddar with Cranberry sauce and Iceberg lettuce on granary bread.

Or the same with Lime Marmalade instead of cranberry.

    Both delicious.

    She’s right.

That’s another favourite in our house too.

Decent pork sausages – still hot, sprinkled with crumbly Lancashire cheese and a decent dollop of brown sauce betwixt two hot slices of buttered toastie loaf.

    Nom.

Left over lasagne in some bread was one of my better experiments.

Too many ace sandwich fillings to choose from but some of my favourites not described above:

    BACON
Fried egg and extra hot reggae reggae sauce (post pub)
Home cooked gammon and a nice strong cheddar with some good chutney, pickle or mustard
Tuna mayo & liberal addition of jalapeños (cheddar or Mexicana optional)
    Cold curry & mango chutney

Sorry just to add jalapeños are a little sandwich superstar. Salty and hot, wakens up even a mediocre sandwich.

And good bread not that floppy wet stuff that keeps a week.

173! That’s the one. I used to deliver to the chaps next door. And they sold Bunderberg Ginger beer.

Kev can leave the room but I’m liking jalapeños, the cheesy cranberry and especially the cold curry mango chutney.

Cheese and marmalade omelette in a pitta bread. Harsh cheese and good orange work well. As does as lighter cheese with lime marmalade.

    You’re welcome planet Earth.

And she’d be absolutely right! It is. But if we’re being honest with ourselves, we know there can be only one winner

Very fresh white bread spread liberally with butter thats only just soft enough to spread with care.

Or cheap sliced white bread and old fashioned marge.

I was given a massive chunk of left over ham so all my sandwiches this week have been thickly sliced ham and wholegrain mustard with a bit of salad to make it look nice. Brown bread as well since white has no flavour. So good. Think I might start buying the proper joints of ham rather than pre sliced, it tastes way better plus you can do proper thick slices.

Failing that, bacon and brown sauce. Cheese and cranberry/onion chutney is really good as well. With a bit of tomato.

Proper seeded brown loaf (unsliced) from a small hands on bakery, not supermarket shite whether that be sugar loaded pre packaged or pretend “In store bakery” bread.

Filled with crumbled Wensleydale cheese, home made red onion chutney, rocket fae the garden, fresh tomatoes, kalamata olives.

    Hmmm, roll on summer.
