The Windsor Castle in Carshalton. It has some excellent bands on a Saturday night – although a bit too loud for some people.

Windsor, could see it from my bedroom window as a kid. Many happy days riding the cheeky singletrack in the queen’s garden and avoiding the parkies on my Grifter!

Personal favourites are Conwy and Beaumaris. Caernarfon is the most spectacular and “hard looking” one I’ve seen though.

    Knaresborough Castle

But only ‘cos I am a ‘Crag Rat’ and proud of my Yorkshire history. Besides – they once did Swap Shop from there – what else could one want?

I think there’s a castle near me, I live in Alnwick.

Not sure if there’s any more though.

Obscure this but I like the “castle nut” on old Triumph’s (GT6, Spitfire, Herald, Pre 7 TR’s etc) front wheel bearings. W(hy)TF is it shaped like that? A normal spanner fits around it, whats going on?
For real stone built ones I like Edinburgh or that one near Berkhamstead (just a ruin) although I do live near Pendeen. Apparently they used to hang a chain between that and St Mawes castle accross the river to stop the (bastard) French invading. I’ve had a look, that must have been some chain if true. (BTW I’m referring to the 17th centuary French-I hear their different nowadays )

Ahhh have just realised must be for the “tail” of the split pin to go into the “castillations” (on the nut-not the French)

Cromwells Castle, Tresco, Scilly. Used to play there as a kid, was convinced every castle came with a dragon at the time.

Otherwise its Corfe for me, cos it just looks so dramatic seeing the ruins on the hill and theres lots of great riding all round it.

Always fond of this one. Used to stay in the village as a kid, never anybody much about, and the seaward facing wall is low enough to sit on with your feet on the grass outside. Spent hours there just looking out to sea, and across the estuary to Laugharn and Dylan Thomas' boathouse. Lovely place.

I like some of the English built castles in Wales, like Conwy and Caernarfon. They say 'castle' to me more than many.

Edinburgh? That's a stately home surrounded by a couple of walls, surely?

One of my faves has to be Neuschwanstein though. Mental.

Was Mad Ludwig a mountain biker? Looks a perfect location.

I'd like to live there, served by young ladies like these:

I had this one, had to save up for ages. It was smaller than the other one but it was BLACK and so better.

    This place is awesome…

Krak Des Chevaliers, a crusader keep… I love the way it blends in with the rock, almost organic.

Ludlow is a fav of mine. Have stood At the top of the tower overlooking Ludlow many times while Mrs Mantastic performs a sex act. Standing there hands on hips being blown adds to the already long history of such a building

    Bringing it back on course…

Of course, the Alhambra in Granada is an homage to the World Famous Bradford Alhambra.

The Spanish concede that theirs is a poor imitation, however.
