I have a pair of Timberlands and due to broken leg years ago (I twist my foot when walking) I get blisters. Anyone recommend some insoles that might be able to alleviate this.

I really like the Sole heat mouldable ones. Not that cheap but worth it. You can get a lot of different thickness to suit the type of boots you have.

Have a look here. I use superfeet green in my workboots and hill walking boots with great success. There are many other types to choose from.

I did not know any insole that will stop the friction.
Have you tried wearing two pairs of socks a thin set of liner socks under your everyday socks

Lots of walkers do this to help with blisters.

Check out isocool liner socks on amazon

A good chiropodist will be able to fit an orthotic insole to correct this problem.

I have put these PRO versions in my wellies at work because the relativly flat sole caused me sore knees. They worked great for my problem , but obviously I dont know if they would help you.

I’m not sure if the insoles will help the OP’s particular problem but they stopped me getting blisters, which I always had a problem with, mainly heel rubs.

I also had some success with 1000 socks, which are basically socks with a built in liner.
