    when you bring an image in which has a white background, how can you get rid of the white background so you are just left with the actual image.

    Several ways of doing this:-

    Create an “opacity mask”
    Create a “clipping mask”

    or… the lazy way of doing things, if its a multi-layered .PSD with transparency on your specific layer, open the .PSD in AI, convert layers to objects and drag the specific object across…voila! Transparency maintained!

    Try doing a search for the top two in the help function!
