Seen on my ride today. Obviously unused for some time.
I know it's a tank, but don't know what sort. So
1) Where is it?
2) What is it?

1) at the bottom of your garden
2) a septic tank
Bloody flytippers.
Nah, that's tidier than my garden!!!
It's a Chieftain, but God knows where it is.
Did you have a look inside? Bet you did, far too tempting to resist.......
Poked my head through the front turret. The armour on those things is bloody thick. Wouldn't like to be the driver with my bonce sticking through that hole in serious action.
As to where it is...a very popular mtb area. I saw loads out round and about, but how many saw this? I've been past it before and not seen it. Couldn't see how it got there; it appears to be wider than the road that it must have come up.
Well the pic title is "tank at chicksands" - doesn't look like Bedfordshire though
I've been past it before and not seen it.
That's 'cause its coated in camouflage paint.....

Thats camouflage for you
Weel the pic title is "tank at chicksands" -
You don't think that's maybe a red herring to stop sneakies?
Could well be, as I said, that ain't Bedfordshire (there are hills!)
Spot on, nowhere near Bedfordshire. Don't think I've ever been that far south!
Yep, its a Chieftain. My Dad was a tank commander in Korea and that was what he was in.
Industrial Fells ?
Catterick/Leyburn-ish area?
Ah, the bikes and tanks thread, can I join in?
A sandy one:
Somewhere on the edge of the Dark Peak if the soil colour is anything to go by?
Hmm, mark 10 or 11 by the look of it? cant tell for sure, its a long time - pretty sure its a mk 11...
Analogue Andy - ten times round the block, shouting 'that is not a tank', GO!

Tracks, big gun..they all look the same to me
is the secong pic bovington?
Ok, Andy - out on a wing on this - Iraqi M1974 variant of a Sau 122?
Well you've all lost. The tank is at Gatten on the Long Mynd. Nowhere near Bedford, or the Peak, or Catterick.

No idea I'm afraid but it might well be.
It's at Shrivenham.
