Firstly I’m trying to get rid of the gas and gas CH.
The house is an odd large but terraced building, built in the sixties.

I’m having someone come round to discuss a woodburner in the living room, and having the flue go up and along the ceiling and up the exterior wall.
Also looking at a basic solar panel for summer hot water. Our house is set longways so we have a huge south facing roof.
At the moment we have just two rads downstairs and three upstairs. The insulation is virtually non existant in the loft and the patio and balcony doors need to be replaced. Obviously insulating and fitting new doors will help straight away.
The gamble is ditching the gas CH, which is basically just heating the house.
As for water heating, we tend to only shower and we switch the imersion on for 30 minutes a day for the rest of the water heating requirements.

    Have you considered shutters?

Could knock 10% or more of your fuel bills.
