    The mount on the shifter ….. is it threaded or is the idea a bolt or stub locates in a threadless hole and uses a nut or male bolt.

    Either way would it take an M5 bolt?

    No the thread is on the stub on the brake lever band, i’ve just converted an xt shifter from normal to i spec b with this kit

    Sl-m780-b if you google it you’ll get a pdf showing you the exploded diagram. I cant get the link to work sorry.

    It’s a flanged nut that goes into a thread less hole. M5 bolt ok I think, could be m4 sized normally but if you’re thinking of a bodge without the nut then an m5 should fit as there is room for the sleeve on the nut.
