  • I need a rear wheel – Hope vs Spline

One can get a Spline wheelset for the same price as a Hope rear. Does the Hope have any significant advantages? Or just get something from Superstar with33% off?

I like hope stuff. I like the availability of spares, the warranty and the length if product support.

I would go hope, hold price well, service is excellent, buy British, you can get spares easily and service yourself if you want too.

I’ve got some DT ex1501 spline ones and the rear freehub bearings are a bit grumbly. DT told me to buy a whole new freehub as the bearings shouldn’t be changed – I’m going to ignore them and try changing them as they’re standard bearings (my friendly LBS has done it before). Based on this, you won’t get the support from DT you get from Hope.

That said, I’ve had them a year and they’ve put up with my clumsy 100kg and are as straight as a die.

Prefer the noise of my Hopes but each to their own.
