Those reactions are quite normal for the Taiwanese. In fact I am quite suprised the car actually stopped. I used to live there and often saw much worse than that. The worst were concrete mixer drivers. They didn’t give a crap about any other road user and wouldn’t stop at red lights…just steamed across. If you got in their way, tough! They were paid per load and that was all that mattered. A friend got fairly badly mangled as she ended up under the wheels of such a truck on her scooter. No one came to help her apart from calling for an ambulance as doing so indicates you are somehow responsible for the accident which is why no one helped that cyclist.
