  • I built my dream bike…and now it needs to be sold after 1 ride….sad times

Painstakingly built over the past few months. Rode like an absolute dream. But the boss has called time on my toy collection and something has to give.
    Very sad times.

Take up drinking alot and watching porn and the boss might change her mind.

Seriously? Assuming you mean SWMBO – she’s let you build it, now you have to sell it at a huge loss? Great.

If that’s your dream bike why not sell one of the others?

don’t do it, find some other way of raising the cash, anything but selling a brand new bike.

Sell her, she’s not worth it.

I’ve not spotted the wife in the classifieds yet?

If the best offer you could get was £450 would she change her mind? You’ve probably knocked £1000 off the value with non matching valve caps!

    Show her this.

It’s now only worth 50% of what you paid for it. No warranty you see as the buyer would not be the original owner.

don’t sell it (argue that you would loose a lot of money by selling it 😉

That’s not right, nor perhaps indicative of a balanced and healthy relationship… sorry.

I have an idea which will save you.
    .
Tell her you’ve sold it. Then give it to me to look after for a while, say a year or so. I’ll ride it and then give it back and you can tell you’ve bought a used bike and saved a fortune.

I’m assuming that the boss is your partner?

If so ask her to list the amount she spends on:
Shoes, Make up, Hair Do’s, Magazines, Handbags, Nails etc in a month and then tell us it makes sense for you to sell your bike.

    Yeah, that’s a little unfair…

Its sadder that you cant grow some and tell the boss you are keeping it. This stinks of a stealth ad 🙄

You need to creep up to the Boss’s handbag when she’s not looking and retrieve your balls back from inside it.

However, if the Bosss’s orders are influenced by aesthetics then I’m on her side. Yukkkk!

Hehe, some great replies, I may try some of them!

To be honest, she has a point and we had a frank discussion where we decided that the amount of use this bike will get will probably not justify the cost!

A shame, but in the future I will get my toys back!

Unless you’re desperate for rent/mortgage money or you need immediate scrotum surgery then frigg sell something else or get rid (of the boss), you’ll lose a retarded amount off money selling it 2nd hand.

but as above, now you have it the amount you would use it would be more than worth the amount you’ll lose by selling it. so it’s better value to keep it and ride it as much as possible. seriously, long term the amount you’ll get for it is **** all. just keep the thing.

@supertacky. My partner is fantastic, we have been saving for a house deposit, she hasn’t been shopping for a long time.
I originally had my half of the deposit and she was saving to get hers, we have found the perfect house and so we need a bit more deposit!

As said above, if it’s your dream bike sell some of your other toys that aren’t your dream bike. Simple

Looks like you crashed it into a wall but that aside what others said. Get yer balls back from her handbag as you’re heading down the road to bitter resentment.

so maybe you shouldn’t have bought it. but now you have, there’s no logic in selling it. might as well appreciate it.

    tomhughes

Yeh, I think the amount I can get for it is going to play a possible role. wouldn’t want to loose too much!

I’ll stick it in the classifieds at some point and see what happens.

I shouldn’t have bought it no. It was silly of me. I’ve recently changed jobs and cut my wage by over half.
I guess I hadn’t thought about how much that would impact me financially. My partner has been very supportive of this, but there comes a point!

Just say no. Life is too short to be separated from your dream bike, and a good chunk of the cash is gone forever anyway.

How many bikes do you have?

    Erm, a lot!
I have to concentrate on road biking/triathlon next year, so the road bike and TT bike have to be kept.

does the money it will sell for make a difference to your situation?; that is quite different from what you paid for it.

    No they don’t!
