– 9/11 results in Iraqi and Afghanistan war
– Looking to blend in with the locals US and UK troops grow beards
– troops come home with beards
– Others copy the returning heroes
Full disclosure: I am currently sporting a stubble beard as it means I don’t need to shave everyday. Woohoo!
