Oh, and Jamie ties with me on the running front, but i technically did 1.40 in a HM but due to over 30,000 people and bad organisation i could't get the times i was clocking in training, nor even cross the finish line!
oddjob - me too, now I'm just having eggs and bacon. That would have beans with it but I didn't have any this morning.
You can eat anything you like for breakfast, doesn't have to be standard breakfast fare. How about leave some food from the previous night for brekkie?
And are you going to join Mr Grips and me for some races then?
Given that I'm around the Jamie mould - he's a couple of minutes faster for me on the 10k, I'm a few minutes faster for the half-m and I also have not swum...swam...swimmed...swem...swammed for around 20 years either, can I join?
Are we talking Olympic distance?
DD x
I guess i'll be eating about 20 eggs a week!
Would love a copy of this to see what all the fuss is about. Tried the old skool calorie controlled diet last autumn and managed to shift 2 stone over about 4 months but have plateaued a bit and want to lose another stone (yes, I was a FB).
Have sent you an email iDave to the address in your profile.
Many thanks!
with this being a MTB forum are you all thinking of doing off road tri's ?
DD - yes!
Are we collectively going to aim to be at the Ben Nevis one, or is that too much?
oddjob - eggs are a staple on this.
Btw just flicked through the first few pages of the 4 hour body. Promises to be interesting, and I like the guy's approach but he comes over as being a right smart*rse.
Phil.w - dunno, what events are there around? I would probably prefer off-road tbh despite the hills.
Jamie - WTF... why are you selling the MTB?
Been on the cards for a while. Costing a fortune driving from point a to point b all the time to get to the decent trails. Plus the hassle of getting bikes in the car. Nice to just go from the door to be honest.
Most of the stuff is gone so far, just got the frame and a few bits to shift.
So Jamie wins the running section easily
Not if I cannot stay uninjured
but i'm not sure/keen on the swimming bit.
Likewise. A landlubber through and through.
Given that I'm around the Jamie mould
Just without the devilish good looks.

Where d'you live then?
In Peterborough. Home of the anticlimax.
Peaks usual hit. So 4hrs driving every time.
Just without the devilish good looks.
And the nicotine stained toes
Peterborough.. well then I don't blame you
I was going to try and come up with constructive ideas of how you could ride local trails, but really - you just need to move.

Just for you DD:

Steak, with spinach and poached eggs?
Left-overs? My dad's a big fan of eating last night's curry for breakfast.
Phil.w - dunno, what events are there around?
allabouttriathlons.co.uk do a few over Surrey way, they have one in September (sprint & full) but as my swimming is terrible i'm doing the duatlhon option.

I was the same. shredded wheat every morning without fail.
i haven't touched milk, bread or cereal for 2 months. i've heard people complaining about lack of variety for breakfast but what did these people do before? eat the same cereal every day!
I normally have
Omelette (spinach, chorizo, ham)
poached eggs + salmon
Scrambled egg + veg
scrambled eggs + mackerel
the
September? Then there's time to work on the swimming. Get to it man.
I still alternate between scrambled eggs and porridge.
Just the way its always going to be.
I can will have improved it by then, but not get it strong enough that it doesn't just let down my cycle & run.
So what? My running will always let me down, doesn't stop me from doing it. Everyone's got a weak discipline in tri, you just make up on the others. If you can ride a bike for more than 100m without falling off you'll do very well in the bike section anyway and make up time.
molgrips - makes a good point.
Surely it's about finishing one... logging a time... going away... training like a Mother Hubbard ... entering another one... Repeat until failure.
I've less than 10 runs in the last 5 years. All of them in the last 2 months.
it is true, and i have no excuse.
Yesterday was treat day in the Grips household, and a fine day was had by all.
Today wasn't so bad as last week though - even though we went on a day trip and due to poor planning had no food to bring with; also due to the timing of Mrs Grips eating requirements we had to eat at Mc Donalds. The only thing I could have was chicken nuggets (vom) and a salad.
Set off to run 800m tonight, first proper exercise on the diet really, and it was a bit strange. Couldn't run as fast as I was expecting to, my legs jellified in 250m, but then subsequent efforts were ok if somewhat slower.
Yeti - get the road bike yet?
800m
Steady tiger
It's a long way for me.. longer than I though it was anyway but I did do it twice
3m36 it took, which is absolutely terrible.
iDave can I have a copy of the program? Email in my profile, I have emailed you.
Does the iDave diet impact on your brain? Just wondering like.

KaBoom!
Two things now.
Last night I rode home trying to go fast. I felt reasonably good although av speed wasn't brilliant, but my HR was 10bpm lower than I'd have expected given the effort, and I was puffing and blowing a lot. This is the other way round for me, usually my HR is sky high and my legs give out long before I have to breathe heavily. Weird.
The other thing is, this morning I did a pee strip test and I had moderate ketone levels. Does this mean I am not getting enough carbs overall? Is it meant to be ketogenic?
A what test??!!
A 'pee strip' sounds very specialist to me. Does it involve plastic sheeting and nipple tassles?
A what test??!!
Molgrips is going through the looking glass and checking his ketone level to see what his carb intake is like. If you have a high level you enter ketosis....think extreme low carb dieting.
...either that or he is such a virile son of a gun he is testing his pee in case he has impregnated himself.
Is that like ketamine? I'm really shocked if it is.
