Is a rigid 26er SS a bad idea?

APF, that’ll be fine, particularly if it’s muddy.

If was doing it I’d take a CX for the fast bits and loads of suspension travel for the rocky bits and jumps, but light enough to carry. Gear-wise I’d go SS to reduce the risk of transmission based issues but with gearing to get up the steep hill and to go flat out on the quick stuff.

that’s what I used a couple of years ago, and is probably what I’ll use this time.

Either that or I’ll stick 1×9 on it…

With narrow tyres. Last time I used 1.5″ conti xc’s. might just keep as is and go with the Tioga Muds currently on it.

Was thinking CX but not sure I can be arsed with converting it back from winter road duty!

CX I think this year, normally do it on the MTB but fancy a change this year

The course has changed quite a lot this year. Less mud and no steps. More hardpack, berms and jumps.

If the chainkeeper that’s on its way to me works OK I’ll be on my Singular Gryphon, else Solaris.

I’ll be on my only bike which is errr, my Nukeproof Mega – I’m considering the possibility that it’s not the greatest idea now though.

No, that is out as the building of the new trails has made it even steeper. The 45° slope at the end of The Field Of Despair is still in though, and it won’t be frozen this year 😀

Have you ordered snow again for this year Harry? Just wondering whether to hire a tractor, and charge people for towing them out of the car park 😀

I’ve just checked the weather forecast. It look like it will be 5°C with showers.
