    Are they all created equal?

    My Topeak panobike HR monitor is getting pretty erratic, will I need the proper Topeak one or will a £4 special from eBay do the job?

    Assuming it’s ANT+ (or Bluetooth smart) anything will do as long as it’s the same protocol. Older Polar ones (for example) can’t be swapped around.
