Looking for a bit of advice how I can weasel out of my redundancy period at work but still get my payment.

Fortunate that work are offering 4 months notice on redundancy, but don’t fancy waiting around that long as there are better things to do in life and I have trip to America planned for the summer which I’d like to extend, so would rather take the cash and run within the next 4-6 weeks (which sounds reasonable)

Any advice/letter templates on how to proceed?

Until you take it up you won’t know. And do they actually want folk who are ‘out’, ‘in’?

And if they actually will make folk stay, go sick 🙂

Ask them if they’d be prepared to offer better terms for a shorter notice period. Learn how to negotiate better than you do currently. Do not tell them your plans.

What rich said. If you leave of your own volition it isnt redundancy so they need to drive.

If they dont need you for four months you could split the cost saving with them. Eg go at month 3 and they give you a discretionary payment equivalent to half wages for the extra month.
