I’m trying to make contact with a USA IT company called Bynari. We have an annual licence for some critical software, and the licence expires in a few days which will result in the software dying. Unfortunately, it looks like something has happened to Bynari.

Their website (bynari.net) is still running, but if you look at the “Contact” page it gives an address in Romania! Bynari are/were based in Texas.

I looked up the domain, but there’s limited information available. It says the domain was renewed in July, and expires next year. I did a geo lookup on their IP address, and it says the server is in Arizona.

I’ve tried phoning, but the number isn’t available. Emailing results in either no response (to the support address) or a bounce-back (key contact).

I last had dealings with them at the end of August.

I’ve had a look on the web, but haven’t come across anything which says they’re no longer trading or have sold out.

Is there any way to find out what’s happened?

Look at LinkedIn, see who works there and try contact them? You could also see if there are any other businesses near/next to them and give them a call to see if they know anything.

Even if they haven’t gone bust they don’t sound like a business I would now want critical dealings with.

I had a look at LinkedIn when I saw this thread – it’s not pretty! One short paragraph and a link to the website, employees only showing as “LinkedIn Member” with no profile behind them

You may be able to find a recently redundant s/w ex-employee to sort it for you.

It’s pretty stressful. I’ve done some tests, and things are definitely going to die at the weekend if I can’t get the licence renewed. I’ve joined LinkedIn and messaged the 3 listed employees. We’ve also tried phoning some companies in the same street, but having trouble getting through. It looks like one company/person is the landlord, but his phone is just going to voicemail.

Plan B may be to Google “Bynari crack” or “Bynari Keygen” to “buy” you time. I wouldn’t condone this usually, but if you have an issue and good faith attempts at emails / calls to Bynari aren’t being returned, I don’t know you have much choice. I’d get off their product PDQ anyway, or at least deploy an alternative that relegates it to legacy if there’s stuff on there you really can’t export out but need to keep.

Could be one person business now but still raking in license fees as side income?

Have you called Romania? A lot of software businesses have relocated there for a variety of reasons and from acquaintances in Romania I’m hearing that some even moved their HQs there when their entire business is the software (not site visit sales etc).

When you bought the licence did you pay for any escrow services?

We use gSyncit for calendar sharing, if that helps.
