How do you go about removing FSA extreme headset cartridge bearings from the cups? They seem pretty well pressed in.

I did my FSA a while back and as I remember I just put a screwdriver in from the bottom and gently chapped the top one out, moving the screwdriver round a bit each time. I don't remember it being very hard, but it was a few months ago.

Mine have just dropped out any time I've removed the fork. I have to use Doug's technique for the bearings in my Hope though.

They seem well pressed in there, cant seem to get a driver to sit on the lip to tap the lip. Tried levering them off but its just taking the inner bearing race apart! I thought they were just meant to come out easily IE, pop the seals off and they fall out!

Must be rusted in there or something? Could you try to soak in a lubricant and then giving it a good tap all round to see if that releases it? What about heating the outside of the frame and then cooling the inside of the bearings with some iced water? Sorry that's my only ideas, like I say I remember it being quite easy, bit mine were quite new and not rusted.

No not rusted all, I will check my full sus to see if they come out any easier as its the same headset. Its the FSA extreme pro if that makes any difference. Pretty strange as all other cartridge bearing headsets I used have been really straight forward and come straight out!

Did you get any resolution on this? I have a brand new headset and need to take the bearings out to put the cups in the headtube!
